![]() ![]() The HCPCS code 63688 can be used to describe either an IPG explant or an IPG revision. After the identification of replacements, the remaining claims were searched to identify explants by HCPCS code or ICD-9-PCS/ICD-10-PCS code for IPG explant. In the inpatient hospital setting after October 2015, a replacement was defined by the cooccurrence of an ICD-10-PCS IPG explant code and an ICD-10-PCS IPG implant code on the same claim. Replacements were identified by HCPCS code or International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision Procedure Coding System (ICD-9-PCS)/International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision Procedure Coding System (ICD-10-PCS) code for IPG replacement ( Table 1). Claims from any site of service, including inpatient hospital, outpatient hospital, ASC, and office, were included. Outcomes of interest were identified from Medicare claims that occurred after the index date based on procedure codes ( Table 1).
